FC: Dear Kenyans, you have done well, and please appreciate the fact that the president has also done well. You have succeeded in demanding the most efficient, effective, and responsible government ever witnessed in Africa, and I dare say throughout the rest of the developing world.
These commitments to downsizing government and eliminating waste and slaying “the dragon of corruption ” remains a long pipe dream in Ghana where conditions are several times worse than in Kenya. Inflation is 4.6% in Kenya. Ghana skyrocketed to 54% and climbed slowly down to 22% after extremely difficult debt exchange programmes that saw domestic and foreign creditors given deep financial haircuts never experienced in the history of Ghana and Africa. Lending rates average 18% in Kenya while it hovers around 35% .Kenyan debt servicing relies on a third of its GDP. Most recently, our debts have been over 104% of GDP. The runaway exchange rate is painfully affecting everything, and the innumerable high taxes in Ghana have defeated the mantra , moving away from taxation to production.
We are truly hoping that the leading candidates in Ghana’s 2024 elections will be bold to confront all that led to the the most astonishing economic chaos since 1992 and crucially demonstrate how practical and truthfully we can reverse it.
